Redfern park speech

Prime minister Keating makes a speech known as the Redfern park speech, accepting the past mistreatment to the indigenous Australians by the white people. It was regarded by many, one of the greatest speeches of all time. It was extremely significant because he was the first Prime minister to acknowledge the past wrongdoing in the history of Australia.

"We committed the murders. We took the children from their mothers. We practiced discrimination and exclusion. It was our ignorance and our prejudice."
