The process of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people started in 1991 when the Council of Aboriginal Reconciliation was established. Reconciliation is to have Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to have more understanding of each other and have improved relationships. Reconciliation's aim was to make the gap between the Indigenous and non-indigenous Australians smaller. The key to reconciliation was for the White people to recognise the history and to understand what they had to go through.
